The government-backed Motability Scheme is an invaluable initiative that has been helping motorists with a disability since it was first launched back in the 1970s. The scheme enables eligible motorists to exchange part or all of their qualifying mobility supplement for a lease on a brand-new car, thereby enabling them to retain their independence through motoring. What does the scheme include?
In addition to the lease on a brand-new Kia car, the Motability Scheme also includes a number of additional benefits for you to take advantage of. These include everything from comprehensive motoring insurance to routine servicing and breakdown cover, full road tax to maintenance costs. What’s more, if you require any adaptations to be made for your vehicle - such as accessibility, driving aids or storage solutions - these can often be arranged for no additional cost.

There are many advantages to Motability. For instance, for the length of the agreement, it provides you with:
- Insurance cover – for up to three named drivers; if you can’t or don’t wish to drive, you can arrange for a family member, friend or carer to do it for you
- Breakdown cover – RAC-backed driving peace of mind
- Servicing and MOT – all regular services and routine repairs are included
- Electric car support – if you lease one of our 100% electric or plug-in hybrid Kia vehicles, the arrangement and cost of the standard installation of a home chargepoint is included. You’ll also have access to more than 9,000 public charge points via the bp pulse network

Your Motability car is provided for the full length of the agreement. If you wish to change the vehicle, we’ll be more than happy to discuss your options with you.
Damage to the exterior (or loss of) your car, including any standard in-car equipment, is covered by your Motability lease. However, damage to the interior of the car is not covered, nor is the loss of keys or personal possessions.
Unfortunately, you will no longer be eligible for Motability which means you’ll need to return the vehicle. If this happens to you, Motability will support you through the process.
