The original edition of the Kia cee’d proved hugely popular during its six-year run. Now Kia is hoping to build on the success of this highly regarded family car with a second-generation model providing greater power, sophistication and style.
A slightly longer, lower profile gives a rakish edge to the appearance of the new cee’d, accentuating the effect of the more muscular bodywork and longer, sleeker headlights. The result is a small growth in dimensions, which gives the vehicle a length of 4,310mm and width of 1,780mm. This slight expansion offers tangible benefits to the inside of the car.
The additional space has been well-used, creating increased front/rear head and legroom of 1,018mm/976mm and 1,067mm/894mm. The storage space has also been enhanced to a healthy 1,318 litres (with the rear seats folded).
A number of different 1.4 and 1.6-litre engines are available for the Kia cee’d. The model’s designers have again managed to build on existing achievements, increasing the notable energy efficiency of the first-generation cee’d. The 1.6-litre CRDi diesel unit returns 76.3mpg and produces carbon emissions of 97g/km, meaning freedom from road tax charges.
